The Dragons Return to the Big Apple

Dragon's Den MeafordThe 6th Annual Dragons Den Meaford will be held Wednesday, October 29 at the Meaford Hall. Tickets are $25 and the show starts at 7:30.

There are five contestants who will be judged by five Dragons. Each Dragon has committed a minimum of $1,500 to the show. Past winner Jenn Croft of Creative Choices says, ‘After two years people still remember I was a part of that. So, it’s pretty cool.’

The contestants this year are Caldwell who is looking to start a custom hand-made leather shop, Lundberg wants to open a business focused on helping seniors transition to smaller homes, Monahan who is looking to expand his operation by adding technology to help elders and their caregivers, Wareham who wants to grow and expand his craft brewery business, and Wilson who is a 3D printer owner wanting to purchase new printer hardware.

‘I looked at it as a stepping stone to the real Dragon’s Den, until I realized I was standing in front of 300 local business owners.’ 2012 winner Croft says, ‘I looked at it as a stepping stone to the real Dragon’s Den, until I realized I was standing in front of 300 local business owners. And that’s how our community works, basically a bunch of small businesses and word of mouth.

‘The experience has been great,’ she says.

The Dragons who will be judging the entrepreneurs this year are Grayson Ambrose of A2A Capital Management, Bill Brick of Owen Sound Volkswagen, April Stewart of Landlord Legal and the Meaford BIA, Desmond von Teichman of Royal LePage Location North and Carmenie Stemmler of Grey-Bruce Bee Products, Services and Supplies.
